A new post has been published on BraveNewClimate. Link here: http://bravenewclimate.com/notes-from-the-us-of-a
It has an overview of my trip to Russia and the USA, a quote from Steve Kirsch, a comedy skit, a photo of a lecturing hedgehog, and a recommendation of the book "Radiation and Reason". What more could you ask for?

There's no 'silver bullet' for solving the climate and energy crises. The bullets are made of depleted uranium and thorium... |

It sounds like a very enjoyable and productive trip. Glad to see your recommend for Radiation and Reason, and though I've seen it before, I enjoy the homeopathy skit.

There's a word for alternative medicine that works.
we call it medicine.
in a similar vein, this is just about the funniest thing I've seen on the internet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtYkyB35zkk

There has been a lot of noise (and tweeting) from the Breakthrough people about how great it is that US CO2 emissions are being reduced by switching from coal to shale gas. Is the argument made in the Tom Wigley paper discussed last year now considered invalid? US coal plants will be much cleaner than a global average that includes a lot of unabated Chinese and Indian plants, so the loss of aerosol cooling will be small, but there's still the methane leakage. Can we now be confident that this is low enough that a switch to gas is a real help?

the local damage to public health and the social economy caused by ALARA regulations imposed at Chernobyl and Fukushima has been extremely serious and without benefit.
Never ever will you get the watermelons of the world to admit one word of that.

Great results from the IQ2 debate about nuclear: The audience went from 35% in favor to 51%, whereas those against stayed about the same, 31% to 32%. John Morgan has an excellent account of the debate. Congratulations to Ben Heard and his team.
