Warming Arctic: Methane greenhouse gas oozing through cracks in sea ice

Recent research by NASA JPL suggests that the Arctic is morphing into a big greenhouse gas source. If this is the case it would appear that any efforts to limit/reduce CO2 will come too late. It seems the feedbacks in the climate systems are now out of the pipeline!

Further to the above report I just came across this article about an increasing military build-up in the Arctic. No doubt there will be conflict over who gets to dig up and burn all the previously iced over fossil fuels.

How can mankind be so stupid?
