I just came across some old material that appears to be a lecture Barry Brook gave to students at the University of Adelaide in 2008. In these talks, he strongly advocates the use of renewable technologies (wind, solar, geothermal, etc.) to solve the CO2 emissions problem, and nuclear is nothing more than an afterthought in the talks and presentation slides. My question to Barry is, when did you start to think of nuclear as a major part of the solution instead, and what was it that made you change your opinion so much since these presentations?

My understanding was that it happened after Barry really went into depth looking at energy issues and the abilities of renewable energy.
