The graph will not render on my device. However, it is beyond credence that anything will displace existing hydro resources. As for what to build next, yes, possibly wind and solar are less environmentally disruptive than yet another damn dam.

Ah I see the problem, mea culpa, the line chart doesn't stack - so it seems to cross but doesn't actually. If you select the "area" chart it stacks the lines so that fixes the problem.
You're right their website isn't very mobile friendly I guess.

This is full of nostalgia and longing pain for me. It used to be that in New Mexico I could see forever; until these coal burners came. Shades of the Four Corners coal plant. You and they have my sympathies. TBH, the best jobs at nuclear plants require aptitudes that not too many people have. The related jobs the average Joe can hold are more likely service jobs, not direct employment. Still, a job is better than no job.

The Tide Is Turning (And Is It Ever!) George Harvey 2020 Jun 18 CleanTechnica cleantechnica.com/2020/06/18/the-tide-is-turning-and-is-it-ever/Reports that the staid FERC predicts almost 50 times the nameplate capacity of so-called renewables to be installed in the USA compared to other generator types. By April 2023. I suppose that the power planners have all taken grid stability into account.

Reports that the staid FERC predicts almost 50 times the nameplate capacity of so-called renewables to be installed in the USA compared to other generator types. By April 2023. Two things about that: - That's nameplate, not average output (which will be much, much smaller).
- It's net. Total other generation capacity is going to remain about the same, which is why the grid will stay up. Trying to rely on the unreliables is the fast road to disaster.

The Evolution Of Power Business Models Sonal Patel 2020 Jun 30 Power Magazine www.powermag.com/the-evolution-of-power-business-models/As usual, Sonal Patel provides a thorough summary of the progress away from the old vertically integrated power company to the multiplicity of generation providers and retail companies exemplified by ERCOT: bravenewclimate.proboards.com/thread/714/pjm-style-electricity-marketsAs she concludes, nothing is left of monopolies other than the wires. There is also the beginnings of diversification, starting with making hydrogen with excess electricity but also possibly space heating via so-called waste heat from generation. This is my 1000th post here on the BNC Discussion Forum under my new registration. I was thinking about writing a similar summary but Sonal Patel did so first and better than I could.

Anyone with a brain saw the California problem coming. Too many idiot ideologues and pols pandering to them. We need another border wall to keep them IN.
